Sankenbach valley
The Sankenbach Game Reserve is ideal for a family trip to get to know the red deer being native in the Black Forest.
Either you drive less than 3 kilometres from the Hotel Rose by car - there are plenty of parking lots. Or take a hike with the following stations on a distance of about 7 kilometers: Sankenbach Logde, playground, Oberdeisenbachhütte, Sankenbach lake with waterfall and barbecue area. You can also go around the lake.
Absolutely recommended: a stop at the Sankenbach waterfalls! Hidden in the forest: Here, particularly impressive after heavy rainfall, you can admire the two-stage waterfall. The Sankenbach waterfall falling down about 40 meters, was already classified as a large natural monument in 1937.
Lake Sankenbach is located south west of Baiersbronn at an altitude of about 678 meter. It is the deepest "Karsee" in the Northern Black Forest having a depth of 5 to 7 meters, 160 meters long and 140 meters wide. Swimming is allowed.
