Hiking around Baiersbronn
A special hike for the whole family: the Baiersbronner Holzweg comes with the a plant nursery, an integrated barefoot path and a sound game made of wood. It is open everyday. There are 16 stations on a route of 2,2 km. The circular path is flat, but with strollers it could be difficult to move.
In Baiersbronn and its nine municipalities, you and your family can also relax: in a landscape whose beauty and diversity is unique. Even the clear air in Baiersbronn got the title "highly recommended".
You can combine hiking pleasure with culinary delights when being a part of the “Culinary Hiking Heaven”. Baiersbronn is considered a community of superlatives: the largest in Baden-Württemberg (with 190 square kilometers) as well as a a gourmet paradise because of eight Michelin stars - the so-called gourmet capital of Germany.
Hikes on a pleasure trail: Satteleisteig
Check out the hiking hut "Sattelei" and make a stop at the platform "Ellbachseeblick" which is 33m long: there you can enjoy a spectacular view of the small Ellbach lake as well as the distant mountain ranges. The "Sattelei" can be reached from Baiersbronn in about 25 minutes by car or you will make a one-hour-walk including a stop at the Rinkenturm, a historic tower. Walk along the "Schlittwegle" up to "Schuhhanselsbrunnen". Get to know the "Petermännle" and the "Labbronnerkopf" when hiking back to the "Sattelei" with its typical hut atmosphere and culinary specialities.

Black Forest Lotharpfad
The Lotharpfad is an exciting 800 meters long adventure trail, named after the hurricane "Lothar" in 1999. Stairs, bridges and footbridges lead over the area that was destroyed by the hurricane. You will also find an observation tower . The adventure trail is open 24hours a day, except for road closures due to storms, ice or snow and it is free of charge. You can reach the Lotharpfad by a 30-minute drive.

Walk with your family around the Mummelsee:
This lake, formed after the last ice age about 10,000 years ago, is located directly on the Schwarzwaldhochstraße and is easy to reach by car. Parking is for free at the farm shop where you can get regional delicacies.
The Mummelsee is idyllically embedded in the forests and the marsh land. It is wonderful to stroll along the 800-meter-long circular path with wooden planks. Find here pedal boats as well as an adventure playground. The Berghotel Mummelsee offers the possibility to have a drink on the terrace or in the restaurant.
Hiking to the Hornisgrinde and in the marsh land:
From Mummelsee you can also hike to the highest mountain in the Northern Black Forest – the Hornisgrinde (about 2,5 hours). The marsh land is the highlight of the tour. Stop at the Grindehütte at 1155meters and enjoy the view over the Black Forest.
